Bekal Fort was built by Shivappa Nayaka of Keladi in 1650 AD, at Bekal.It is the largest fort in Kerala, spreading over 40 acres. The fort appears to emerge from the sea. Almost three-quarters of its exterior is in contact with water. Bekal fort was not an administrative centre and does not include any palaces or mansions.An important feature is the water-tank, magazine and the flight of steps leading to an observation tower built by Tipu Sultan. The fort's zigzag entrance and surrounding trenches reveal its defensive strategy. Holes on the outer walls are designed to defend the fort effectively from naval attacks. The upper holes meant for aiming at the farthest targets; lower holes below for striking as enemy nearer and the lowest holes to attacking enemy closest to the fort.

Wooden Ship Beypore or Beypur is an ancient port town and a locality town in the state of Kerala.The place was formerly known as Vaypura / Vadaparappanad and also as Beydary.Beypore is noted for building wooden ships, known as dhows or urus in the Malayalam language. Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary lies in the MalappuramKozhikode districts of the state of Kerala in India. It spreads over a cluster of islands where the Kadalundipuzha River flows into the Arabian Sea. The Sanctuary hill is around 200 m above sea level. Over a hundred species of native birds have been recorded in the sanctuary, including about 60 species of migratory birds which visit seasonally; these include ternsgulls,  heronssandpipers  and  cormorants.  Notable species are whimbrels and brahminy kites. The sanctuary is well known for a wide variety of fishmussels and crabs.

Kalpathi Ratholsavam (Kalpathi Chariot Festival) is an annual Hindu Temple festival in the Kalpathi village of Palakkad district in Kerala state. The festival is at the Sri Visalakshi Sametha Sri Viswanatha Swamy temple where the deities are Lord Siva (Lord Viswanatha) and his consort Visalakshi,another name for Parvati.The annual ten-day chariot festival conducted here during the month of November is one of the most remarkable festivals of Kerala. Vedic recitals and cultural programmes are held in the temple during the first four days of the festival. This is believed to be over 700 years old. On the last three days, thousands of devotees gather together to draw decorated temple chariots through the streets.

Lion-tailed Macaque (Macaca silenus), or the wanderoo, is an Old World monkey endemic to the Western Ghats of South India. The lion-tailed macaque is a rainforest dweller; it is diurnal, meaning it is active exclusively in daylight hours. It is a good climber and spends a majority of its life in the upper canopy of tropical moist evergreen forests. Unlike other macaques, it typically avoids humans when possible. The hair of the lion-tailed macaque is black. Its outstanding characteristic is the silver-white mane which surrounds the head from the cheeks down to its chin, which gives this monkey its German name Bartaffe – "beard ape".

Malampuzha Dam is the largest dam and reservoir in Kerala, located near Palakkad, built post independence by the then Madras state. Gaur Or Bos gaurus also known as Indian bison, is native to South and Southeast Asia. Populations in well-protected areas are stable and increasing. The gaur is a strong and massively built bovid with a high convex ridge on the forehead between the horns, which protrudes anteriorly, causing a deep hollow in the profile of the upper part of the head. There is a prominent ridge on the back. The ears are very large; the tail only just reaches the hocks, and in old bulls the hair becomes very thin on the back.

Chinese fishing nets are a type of stationary lift net in India. They are fishing nets that are fixed land installations for fishing. St. Thomas,Malayattoor a meeting place of mountain and river shot into prominence when she was supposedly blessed by the missionary work of St. Thomas the apostle of Jesus Christ. He is believed to have set foot at Kodungalloor, in AD 52 and founded the famous seven churches. On his way to Mylapore, he stopped at Malayattoor. A hostile reception was given and his life was in danger. According to the Ramban Paattu, he was forced to flee to the top of the mountain and had spent days in the abode of God. Pathinettampadi are the 18 divine steps to the 'Thirumuttam' of famed Sabarimala temple in Kerala state of India. These steps have a length of 5 feet, width of 9 inches and height of 9 inches. Earlier, these steps were made out of granite and later in 1985, it was covered by 'Panchaloha', a composition of five metals such as goldsilvercopperiron and tin. One who undertakes Sabarimala pilgrimage must mark his foots over these steps by carrying an 'irumudikettu' and undergoing a vratam of 41 days.The pilgrims who climbed the Pathinettampadi for 18 times needs to plant a young coconut tree at Sannidhanam and thereby becomes a 'Guruswami'. In the past, devotees used to break coconuts on these steps which was later restricted and replaced. The first five steps represents 'Panchendriyas', which are the five human senses such as eye, ear, nose, skin and mouth.The next eight steps represents "Ashtaragas' which includes Kama (desire), Krodha (anger), Lobha (inordinate desire), Moha (attachment), Madha (pride), Matsarya (unhealthy competition), Asuya (jealousy) and Dhumb (braggy). The next three steps represents 'Thrigunas' or the three qualities of Sathva, Rajas and Thamas. The final two steps indicates Vidya (knowledge) and Avidya (ignorance of knowledge).These steps also symbolizes the eighteen hills that surrounds the Sabarimala temple which are Ponnambalamedu, Gaudanmala, Nagamala, Sundaramala,Karimala,Mathangamala,Mayiladummala,Sreepadamala,Thevarmala, Nilakkalmala, Thalapparamala, Chittambalamala, Ghalkimala, Puthusserymala, Kalakettymala, Inchipparamala, Sabarimala and Neelimala.One who cross all these steps become purified and attains eligibility to get the darshan of lord Ayyappa.

Kovalam first received attention when the Regent Maharani Sethu Lakshmi Bayi of Travancore constructed her beach resort, Halcyon Castle, here towards the end of the 1920s. Thereafter the place was brought to the public eye by her nephew the Maharaja of Travancore.

Ponmudi or Golden Peak is a hill station in the Peringamala gramapanchayath of Trivandrum District of Kerala. Ponmudi (Varayadumotta) peak is a part of the Western Ghats mountain range that runs parallel to the Arabian Sea.
